Janine + Mark’s Wedding – Drenagh House Estate

July 1, 2021

Most of my 2020 weddings happened after we locked down due to the pandemic. This was a weird time to be a professional wedding photographer. Today I want to share the 2020 wedding of Janine and Mark, the last wedding I shot before covid restrictions were increased again. They had to have their event finished by 6 p.m. to comply with the new lockdown rules and thanks to their wedding planner, Hannah, and the lovely people at Drenagh House Estate, they got their full wedding finished by the deadline. It felt a little like being Cinderella, wanting to finish the party before our time ran out.

Janine and Mark have a modern love story. They met on Tinder in 2018. Mark messaged first, simply saying “Hello”. For their first date they met for dinner at Zen. A year later, on Valentine’s Day in 2019, Mark proposed on the pier at Castle Leslie Estate.

Janine and Mark might have met in a modern way but their wedding was a classic affair at Drenagh House Estate, a gorgeous country estate just outside the town of Limavady. This estate is picturesque throughout the property. Their ceremony was outside in the Moon Garden, and then the reception was in the marquee. Before the wedding, the couple and the bridal party stayed in the house there. Everyone got ready on property which made for some extra lovely photos before the ceremony.

With so many gorgeous spots for photos at Drenagh House Estate, the couple, the wedding party and I moved around outside quite a bit to capture the pretty light, textures, and colors. This wedding was designed around deep, rich colors. From the emerald green of the bridesmaids dresses to the bright hues of the flowers, my camera soaked up every bit of color and the images from the day seem to come alive!

As the increased restrictions began at 6pm there was no band allowed so they had their first dance outdoors around the fountain in the walled garden. It was an unforgettable moment, unique to Janine and Mark’s wedding. Inside the estate we took advantage of the sweeping, classic staircase and all the natural light inside. This place is a photographer’s dream! Every detail of this wedding made everyone smile.

Thank you to Janine and Mark for choosing me to capture your Drenagh House Estate wedding. I will never forget how we were able to celebrate until the last moment of the day. 2020 changed so much for so many but the way you didn’t let it dampen your special day was perfect!
