The Ballyliffin Lodge is one of the most sought after venues for weddings in the North West, loved by hundreds of couples and one of my favourite places to photograph at. Every wedding runs perfectly and the area is a goldmine of gorgeous locations for your bridal portraits. I caught up with Ron at the Lodge to find out what makes the hotel so popular.

The 4* Ballyliffin Lodge & Spa is arguably the most sought after wedding venue in the Northwest. Boasting breath-taking views of Glashedy Island, Pollan Bay and Malin Head no to mention the fresh Donegal coastal air kissing your face.

What kind of service can couples expect when they book their wedding at the Ballyliffin?
World-class! Our exceptional staff at the hotel pride themselves on their service excellence and reputation. With over 160 weddings a year with just one wedding per day, it goes without saying we have to be on top of our game at all times.
What type of weddings do you cater for?
We cater for weddings from 80 Guests up to 500. All weddings are unique and special so no matter the numbers you still get that Lodge wedding experience which we feel is second to none.
Can you paint a picture of what a normal wedding at the Ballyliffin looks like?
It would be a Van Gogh of elegance and class personified. The moment the happy couple come for their first wedding viewing right through to checking out. Our Wedding Team work closely with you and build up a great relationship with couples in order to provide them with the special day they always dreamed of. Our Motto, after all, is: YOU DREAM IT. WE’LL DO IT.
What tips would you offer anyone looking for a wedding venue?
Relax, take your time and don’t jump in. Personally, I feel you know the moment you arrive at the venue you have that little butterfly feeling in your stomach – when you know you know! Thankfully it’s butterflies galore here at the Lodge!
What is the most memorable request you’ve ever honoured on a wedding day?
Too many to mention! As we stated previously, every wedding no matter the scale is precious and special and unique. That’s what make working in the Wedding Team such a joy. Having smiles on everyone’s faces make it all worthwhile and we are the experts here at the Lodge for that.
