Cali and Thomas were married on 17th April 2019 at the dreamy Drenagh House in Limavady.
A year later and I still remember this wedding so well! As car enthusiasts, Cali and Thomas arrived in sport cars and Thomas definitely bagged himself some mega brownie points by gifting his bride a white BMW (I kid you not). And the surprises definitely didn’t end there!
The happy couple chose the stunning Drenagh House Estate for their reception, which was perfect for photos. The night ended with a bang as guests were treated to a spectacular firework show. This couple definitely ooze class!
With their first wedding anniversary just passed, I caught up with Cali and Thomas, who reflect on their wedding day in this Mr and Mrs style interview.
Biggest surprise of the day
He said: When Cali came to the Church!
She said: Biggest surprise of the day for me was Thomas getting me a new BMW 5 series. I was shocked, to say the least!
Best moment of the day
He said: The speeches – they were entertaining from start to finish.
She said: My favourite part of the day was at night time, watching the fireworks along with Thomas and all the guests. It was just brilliant.
How were you feeling before the ceremony?
He said: I actually felt pretty calm and was looking forward to the day ahead.
She said: I was feeling fine all morning until it came to leaving the house and then the nerves kicked in! I’m sure this is common for everyone.
How did you feel when you saw your other half for the first time?
He said: Lucky, for sure!
She said: I felt relieved that for once Thomas was there earlier than me as that doesn’t happen too often! It was surreal seeing Thomas and how well he looked in his suit. I was very proud.
How would you describe the style of your wedding?
He said: Fun and exciting.
She said: I would describe our wedding as very us. We both made sure to include different things that we like and which reflect our personalities. This was important to us.
What was the most fun thing about wedding planning?
He said: Organising the cars! I’m really into cars so it was great to be tasked with this responsibility.
She said: Definitely the dress shopping – it’s as much fun as you imagine. I also loved looking around Drenagh! It’s such a magical place and I could really envision our wedding day there.
What was the most difficult thing to agree on?
He said: Nothing really – I let Cali batter on with most things. That’s the key to stress-free wedding planning.
She said: Thankfully Thomas is very easy going and we didn’t have any disagreements. I think at times he didn’t even know what he was agreeing too.
How does it feel to be married?
He said: Grown up.
She said: It feels amazing too be married to Thomas! I had to wait long enough, lol!
How was your honeymoon?
He said: Unbelievable. We went back to Vegas, where I had proposed.
She said: The honeymoon was brilliant. It was very special because to us as we went back to Las Vegas where Thomas proposed. It felt amazing to be back there as husband and wife.
Any advice for other couples?
He said: Happy wife, happy life – a simple motto, which works.
She said: Just enjoy your day and take it all in. It really is the quickest day of your life. Before you know it, the guests are leaving and it’s time for bed.
