Everglades Hotel Wedding Derry

I’m thrilled to bring the story of Nicola and John’s Everglades hotel wedding today on the blog. Pediatrician Nicola met John in Granny Annie’s in town back in September 2016 and the pair hit it off straight away. Farmer John was intent on impressing the love of his life as much as he could and popped the question at the top of the Shard in London, and of course she said yes! They contacted me to be their Everglades Hotel wedding photographer and it was a perfect match, we immediately felt at ease together and had a great time at their engagement shoot!

Nicola and John’s wedding was a lot of fun, and the two of them spent their day laughing and having a great time together. Every single person present could feel their love radiating from them throughout their ceremony at All Saints Church in Clooney. Though their day started on a small hiccup after a power cut at Nicola’s house meant that all the hair and make-up had to be done at the salon, Nicola breezed through the morning knowing that she would soon be seeing the man of her dreams! She was soon rewarded for her positive outlook after the weather forecast for awful weather turned out instead to be an absolutely beautiful day.

I could tell that John was a bit nervous in the morning and at the altar, but he hit his form after he was married and he soon relaxed beside his new wife. Nicola’s son Adam walked her halfway up the aisle, then he handed her off to her father to walk her the rest of the way to meet John. They had a bagpiper greeting guests at the ceremony, and leaving the church, after which we headed to some stunning gardens in the cityside for their bridal portraits.

Their wedding reception was at the Everglades hotel and again the bagpiper led the guests into the function room before the speeches where the bestman, as always, gave the groom plenty of stick, including a few digs at John’s cooking ability! Nicola’s sister, Deborah, read a poem at the reception about their years together that was filled with laughter and tears, and plenty of inside jokes between the two of them.
