Hayley & Clodagh had a beautiful humanist wedding ceremony in the Shandon Hotel in Dunfanaghy and literally tied the knot in front of all their friends and family. Everyone could feel the love between these lovely ladies and their touching ceremony had tears from a number of guests in the room. Before the couple exchanged their rings they were passed along their bridal party and parents so that they could each hold them and bestow their best wishes and blessings along the way, a lovely gesture known as ring-warming. The ceremony culminated in the handfasting tradition before the pair walked down the aisle as Mrs & Mrs!
Footballers Clodagh & Hayley met on the pitch five years ago in Portadown and have gone from strength to strength since! As they are both beach-lovers Clodagh knew the perfect place to pop the question, Ballymastocker beach in Donegal, and without hesitation Hayley said yes, setting them on the path to their wedding day! They even had their engagement session on the beach as well, the stunning Murder Hole beach at Melmore Head, though it didn’t quite go as planned as you can see here!
The excitement amongst their bridal party was clear to see as soon as we arrived that morning. The fact that they were getting ready in adjacent rooms added to the thrill, with everyone ensuring that the two didn’t meet too soon! After their ceremony there was only one place in their hearts for their bridal portraits, the nearby Marble Hill beach and even the freezing cold wind didn’t deter them in the slightest!
Back in the warmth of the hotel, both bride’s spoke at the reception, along with bridesmaid Sarah, Hayley’s dad and Clodagh’s proud brother Jarlath in honour of their father. There were a few tears and plenty of laughter from the speeches, especially from Sarah’s speech who took great pleasure in spilling a few hidden truths about the brides!
After their wedding breakfast the guests were entertained by some brilliant Irish dancing before happy couple stepped out onto the dance floor for their first dance, and as we left they were partying the night away!
Thank you both so much for choosing me for your wedding photography, I had a great day with you both and I am so proud of your photos! All the best for many years of happy marriage!
