If your wedding day were a romantic film…
In the scene when the girl admits to the boy she’s always loved him, there’s never just one angle. You’ll see how the girl looks at the guy, then you see how the guy looks at the girl.
Film-makers don’t achieve these scenes with one camera person or in one-take. They shoot plenty of angles as well as lens sizes to create an immersive love-story.
Your wedding deserves to have the same high-quality level of story-telling
The truth is this quality of coverage can be achieved. It’s possible to photograph the bride’s entrance into the church simultaneous to the groom’s nervous anticipation at the altar.
Imagine the story the photographs will tell when they’re side-by-side on the pages of your wedding album. It’ll be as if an accomplished director captured your day.
With this in mind, it’s why I recommend having a second photographer.

TWO PLACES AT ONCE
As talented as a solo wedding photographer is, no one can be in two places at once. I’d have to prioritize the most important shots. Having two photographers ensures nothing happens out of sight of a camera, which ensures –
NOTHING GETS MISSED
At the heart of any wedding are two people marrying the love of their life. In the morning, you each prepare in separate houses. Later, you join one another at the altar and what happens in-between is the start of your story.
A second photographer guarantees each partner is captured throughout the morning. These are the pictures your soon-to-be other-half is missing from. After your wedding, your album will weave together your stories, allowing you to fully share the day with one another.

YOU GET MORE – QUANTITY & PERSPECTIVE
It’s this nature of sharing that the second shooter and I bring to our work; sharing our responsibility and commitment to photographing your incredible day. While I create shots that prioritize you, my second shooter complements me. They are free to photograph from another perspective, gaining abstract or different angles. In the end, our combined presence ensures a rich, plentiful selection of images.

YOUR CEREMONY IS COVERED
Some say a wedding is about the party, but the ceremony formally recognizes the bond and commitment you share with your partner. In my opinion, it’s the most important part. It deserves the best kind of visual story-telling.
Typically, when you walk down the aisle, the distance between you and your partner means a photographer will have to forfeit some shots. For all the emotions and expressions that I can’t reach, a second shooter ensures we capture everything.
Two photographers transform your unique tale into a high-quality visual story that, like every good romantic film, will stand the test of time.

CANDID PHOTOGRAPHS AND EXTRA COVERAGE
In the afternoon we’ll head out for your bridal portraits while your guests make their way to your reception to properly greet one another and relax into the celebration.
Think of what your wedding guests are likely to do – things you’re likely to miss. Imagine all the laughs when you’re looking through your wedding album and spot a little nephew’s cheeky hand reaching for yet another chocolate bun or your cousins up to mischief at the bar.
Amongst this life and craic, your second photographer is shooting everything – from your carefully planned personal touches as well as all the special moments. The result is candid, reportage photos of your favourite guests enjoying your special day.

With two photographers on their day, one of us captured Ashleigh’s bemused expression as Gareth guided her to an unexpected door, while the other was waiting inside to catch her reaction as she realised that her wedding gift was a gorgeous new piano!

BACK UP
Last of all, and I mention this to instill confidence, a second shooter provides security. It happens infrequently, yet there are tales of wedding photographers stumbling into lakes as they perfect a shot. Occasionally, equipment goes awry and though I always have backup equipment, a second shooter is a safety-net for unlikely eventualities. They’re also able to bring equipment, gather up your bridal party and a myriad of other small tasks that make everyone’s day easier.

Because I know what a privilege it is to be a part of your incredible day, I make it my goal that, when you open up your wedding album, you lose yourself in the story that comes off the pages. Your story, in my experience, is richer, more detailed and characterful when you have two photographers’ perspectives. It truly will be a stand-out keepsake that will make you laugh and cry as you relive the memories time and again.
Another benefit of second photographers is that I get great behind the scenes images like these!
